LANDOVER MD | Landover is a city located in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. It is located within the Washington metropolitan area. The history of the community begins with the settlement of Germantown in 1683. Germantown was taken down during the American Civil War; however, it was re-established in 1873 as a suburban community for Washington D.C.'s government workers who were displaced by the construction of Union Station. The community was originally named "Germantown" after the German settlers who arrived in the area; however, it was later renamed "Landover" to avoid anti-German sentiment during World War I.
Today, Landover is a vibrant and diverse community home to several government agencies and businesses. The community is also home to several amenities, including schools, parks, and shopping centers. Landover is an appealing community for families, professionals, and retirees alike. The town is home to FedExField, where the Washington Redskins football team plays its home games.
