CAPITOL HEIGHTS MD | Capitol Heights is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. Capitol Heights is located northeast of Washington, D.C. It is bounded by the cities of Seat Pleasant and Glenn Dale to the north, by Landover to the west, and by Suitland-Silver Hill to the south. History goes that incorporated in 1910, Capitol Heights takes its name from being close to where the U.S. Capitol building is currently located in Washington, D.C. The community was settled as a rural farming village and developed into a streetcar suburb at the turn of the 20th century when electric trolleys were extended out from Washington D.C.'s H Street NE corridor (now Benning Road NE) along what is now Central Avenue into Prince George's County reaching Capitol Heights by 1901.
